(Kaieteur News) – President Irfaan Ali’s prescription for Guyana’s worsening cost-of-living crisis is deeply insulting to ordinary citizens who are struggling to put food on the table in one of the world’s fastest-growing oil economies.

When citizens complain that food, rent, transportation, utilities and basic necessities are becoming increasingly unaffordable, the President tells them to change their eating habits, shop less in supermarkets and cook more at home. That is a remarkably myopic response from a government presiding over an unprecedented oil boom.
