(Kaieteur News) – President Irfaan Ali has come under fire for his recent remarks blaming the high cost-of-living on a change in the eating and spending habits of many Guyanese.
Many citizens have described the President’s comments as “tone deaf.” Some believe that instead of merely looking at Guyanese change of habit, the Ali administration should take action against rise in cost-of-living by implementing policies and measures which will directly reduce the impact.
Kaieteur News spoke to citizens who believe that the President’s point of view is warranted the negative reaction since many ordinary citizens struggle day to day to make ends meet, without any direct intervention from the government.
