A 33-year-old Table­land man lost his life at Ma­yaro Beach on Sat­ur­day, turn­ing what was meant to be a joy­ful week­end re­union in­to a scene of heart­break for a group of fam­i­lies.

Robin Swah, 33, had been en­joy­ing the wa­ter with fam­i­ly mem­bers at a rent­ed beach house along Grand La­goon, Guayagua­yare Road, when tragedy struck. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Swah got in­to dif­fi­cul­ty while bathing and dis­ap­peared be­neath the waves.

Fam­i­ly mem­bers rushed to his aid but were un­able to save him as the high tide and strong cur­rents proved too pow­er­ful. He nev­er resur­faced.
