PRESIDENT of the National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC), Dr Surujdeo Mangaroo, has called on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to reinstate the Race Relations Committee.

The committee, he said, would be tasked with addressing racial tensions, investigating complaints, encouraging dialogue, promoting public education and making recommendations to strengthen relations among communities.

He said reinstating the committee should not be seen as an admission of national failure, but as an act of national responsibility.
