A day after saying United States marines were in Tobago assisting with roadworks at the new ANR Robinson International Airport, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has now admitted they are also conducting radar surveillance and intelligence operations in the fight against narco-traffickers.

A United States Air Force C-17A Globemaster III landed in Tobago early Wednesday morning, raising a firestorm of questions about the extent of the US presence on the sister isle.

By that afternoon, when the Prime Minister responded to questions from the media outside the Red House in Port of Spain, she said the US mili­tary was assisting with the ANR airport runway.
