A 42-year-old man was shot dead and his part­ner wound­ed dur­ing an at­tack at the Mal­oney hous­ing com­plex on Fri­day night.

Po­lice said Kurleigh Si­mon of Train Line, Pin­to Road, Ari­ma, was found ly­ing mo­tion­less along a path­way lead­ing to the Build­ing 8 car park around 9 p.m. He ap­peared to have gun­shot wounds to his chest, hand and ab­domen.

Si­mon’s part­ner, 38-year-old Nukime Wills, told in­ves­ti­ga­tors she was walk­ing with him and their 12-year-old son when she heard sev­er­al ex­plo­sions and felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion in her left leg. She said when she turned around, she saw Si­mon on the ground gasp­ing for air.
