(Kaieteur News) – The United States is set to provide Guyana with US$2 million to strengthen its ability to monitor its airspace and develop unmanned aerial system capabilities, as Washington moves to deepen security cooperation with Georgetown.

The announcement came following a meeting yesterday between U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and President Irfaan Ali in Georgetown during Landau’s 9th -12th August visit to Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

According to the U.S. Embassy, the proposed US$2 million initiative will focus on developing air domain awareness and unmanned aerial system capabilities, adding a new dimension to the security relationship between the two countries.
