Kaieteur News – United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will travel to Guyana as part of an official regional visit from 9th August to 12th August, 2026, targeting expanded economic cooperation, strategic energy partnerships, and bilateral investment opportunities.

The high-level visit prioritises diplomatic and economic engagement in Georgetown, where Deputy Secretary Landau will meet with President Irfaan Ali and senior cabinet members.Discussions between Washington and Georgetown will center on strengthening U.S. private sector investment and deepening technical collaboration across strategic national sectors, with a primary emphasis on energy resilience and critical minerals extraction.

According to a media note released by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the Spokesperson, the regional itinerary also includes a stop in Trinidad and Tobago, where Deputy Secretary Landau will meet with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to reinforce shared security, economic cooperation, and regional energy initiatives.
