A Couva mechanic and used car dealer has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Larceny Trick following investigations by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad.
The 44-year-old suspect from Couva was arrested on 30th September 2025 after surrendering to police. The charges stem from a report involving a white Nissan Tiida stolen from the Carenage Police District on 22nd August 2023.
Police said the vehicle was recovered on 25th February 2024 at Bonne Aventure Road, Mayo, Gasparillo, without registration plates. Further inquiries revealed that the suspect sold the vehicle to a buyer in Couva on 22nd February 2024, knowing it had been stolen.
