Dr. Keith Rowley has officially announced his resignation as Political Leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM), bringing to a close more than two decades of political leadership.
The resignation takes effect on Thursday, the same day Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be sworn in as Prime Minister following the UNC’s general election victory on April 28.
In a statement released today, Dr. Rowley reflected on his planned departure, first disclosed on January 6, 2025, when he revealed his intention to step down as Political Leader by September, following the PNM’s internal convention.
