(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) said Sunday that water quality in Mackenzie and surrounding areas has returned to normal following reports of discoloration from local residents.
The utility company in a statement, said an investigation was launched after receiving complaints from customers regarding the appearance of their tap water. Technical teams determined that the temporary discoloration was caused by sediment entering the local distribution system.
GWI said it implemented swift corrective measures to resolve the issue. Operations teams conducted extensive flushing across the affected distribution network to clear the lines and significantly increased water-quality monitoring at both the treatment facility and key points within the community.
