(Kaieteur News) – The motorcycle stolen from Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Monday has been recovered after the thief dropped it and bolted from a policeman who asked him for his license and registration.
Speaking with Kaieteur News on Tuesday, the owner of the motorcycle said, he received a call from a man who identified himself a police officer, informing him that he was in possession of the stolen motorcycle. He contacted the police ranks who are investigating the case and together they went to check the information provided by the man who identified himself as a policeman.
When they arrived, the man was indeed a police officer and the stolen motorcycle was in his possession. The policeman related that after seeing the viral Facebook post that the businessman’s bike was stolen, he was on the look out. Later that afternoon he spotted a man riding a bike that looked similar to the one in the Facebook post and proceeded to pull him over. He then reportedly asked the man for his license and bike registration but instead of handing over the documents, the man abandoned the motorcycle and ran away. “They done strip it, start changing the skin and the key switch but we get it back”, he said. Police are now hunting the suspect.
