A search and rescue operation is underway for a woman who is feared drowned after getting into difficulty while hiking at the Madamas Waterfalls in Brasso Seco, Paria, following heavy rainfall on Saturday.
The woman, identified only as Jessica, was part of a group of hikers who entered the Madamas area late Saturday afternoon. However, intense rainfall reportedly caused water levels to rise rapidly, creating dangerous conditions along the river and near the falls.
Members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Captain Vallence Rambharat, began coordinated search efforts early on Sunday morning, January 11, alongside officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service and the police.
