A dra­mat­ic scene un­fold­ed along the North Coast Road in Mara­cas yes­ter­day af­ter­noon af­ter a maxi taxi was pushed over an em­bank­ment when a tree col­lapsed on­to the mov­ing ve­hi­cle.

The T&T Fire Ser­vice said it re­ceived a call from a mo­torist at 12.58 pm, who said that there was an ac­ci­dent be­tween the Mara­cas Look­out and the Spring Bridge, a stretch no­to­ri­ous for its tight cor­ners and heavy for­est cov­er.

Fire of­fi­cials con­firmed that a sin­gle ve­hi­cle, a maxi taxi, was in­volved. The falling tree re­port­ed­ly struck the maxi and sent it veer­ing off the road­way and over a small em­bank­ment.
