Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar today presented mining and processing licences to Studley Park Enterprises Limited (SPEL), paving the way for expanded quarry operations, increased production, new employment opportunities and greater economic activity in Tobago.
The licences will strengthen SPEL’s ability to develop Tobago’s mineral resources, pursue regional export markets and potentially generate valuable foreign exchange earnings for Trinidad and Tobago.
As a company wholly owned by the Tobago House of Assembly, SPEL also has the potential to create greater opportunities for local contractors, transport operators, suppliers and small businesses, ensuring that the benefits of increased economic activity extend to families and communities throughout Tobago.
