Police are investigating the death of a 12-year-old girl whose body was discovered near a recreation ground in Friendship Village, Ste. Madeleine on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Mariah Seenath, a student of Ste. Madeleine Secondary School, who lived at 3rd Street, Circle Drive, Hillview, Friendship Village. Her body was found shortly after 1p.m in a bushy area off a pedestrian track near the Friendship Village Recreation Ground.

Authorities say Mariah had left her grandmother’s home at Cipero Road around 7 a.m. that morning, reportedly to return to her father’s house. She never made it.
