Where’s the Buccoo Reef?’ THTA questions ferry plan

PLANS to increase sea bridge capacity ahead of Tobago Carnival have come under fire from the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association (THTA), with its president questioning whether the vessels currently scheduled could meet the island’s needs during the peak travel period.

The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT) and the National Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (NIDCO) in statements issued on Wednesday announced additional sailings for October and into the first week of November, saying the measures were intended to manage increased passenger and vehicle demand.

However, while responding to questions from the Express yesterday, THTA president Reginald McLean said he was “not sure about ramping up” capacity, pointing to the vessels currently listed for service and questioning the absence of the Buccoo Reef from the schedule.
