A fe­male pris­ons of­fi­cer with more than 19 years of ser­vice was ar­rest­ed at the Gold­en Grove Prison on Mon­day morn­ing af­ter she was al­leged­ly found with a quan­ti­ty of pro­hib­it­ed ar­ti­cles.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the Trinidad and To­ba­go Prison Ser­vice, the of­fi­cer was ar­rest­ed around 8:48 a.m. dur­ing a rou­tine se­cu­ri­ty check.

The of­fi­cer was cau­tioned and po­lice were con­tact­ed. Of­fi­cers from the Of­fice of the Deputy Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice (Op­er­a­tions) es­cort­ed her to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion, where she was as­sist­ing with in­quiries and was ex­pect­ed to be for­mal­ly charged.
