The North Cen­tral Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (NCRHA) says it has suc­cess­ful­ly com­plet­ed ma­jor elec­tri­cal up­grade works at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex (EWM­SC).

The project in­volved in­stalling a new trans­former on the fa­cil­i­ty’s elec­tri­cal grid to op­er­ate along­side the ex­ist­ing one, a move the NCRHA said would re­duce risks of pow­er fail­ure or elec­tri­cal loss that could leave the hos­pi­tal vul­ner­a­ble.

To main­tain pa­tient safe­ty and min­imise dis­rup­tions, the au­thor­i­ty de­vel­oped con­tin­gency plans, resched­uled out­pa­tient clin­ics and elec­tive surg­eries, and di­vert­ed ra­di­ol­o­gy ser­vices such as CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, and ul­tra­sounds to the Ari­ma Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal and Mt Hope Women’s Hos­pi­tal.
