(Kaieteur News) – Troy Singh, owner of an Eccles, East Bank Demerara tint shop, was released on $200,000 bail after 15:00h on Thursday, days after being arrested at his Eccles home on Tuesday morning. His attorney, Yuborn Allicock, confirmed the release to Kaieteur News, saying he had “requested reasonable bail,” noting that Singh recently had a baby.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told this newspaper that the probe remains ongoing. “The only person vested with the power to recommend that an investigation be closed, more so, a murder investigation, is the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” Blanhum said. “The last advice obtained from the DPP was for the Police to conduct ‘further investigations.’ As a consequence, that is what the Police have been doing.”
The long-running investigation into the March 2021 killing of Ricardo ‘Paper Shorts’ Fagundes has picked up pace over the past eight days, with several people being taken into custody and subsequently released.
