Grand Kadooment earns high praise, though some say culture took back seat

Grand Kadooment 2026 has been hailed as one of the smoothest and most enjoyable editions of the Crop Over festival’s climax in recent years, praising the peaceful atmosphere, energetic celebrations and strong visitor turnout.
But others expressed fear that the festival is gradually losing the cultural storytelling that once defined Crop Over.
While opinions differed on the parade route and the evolution of costume design, the overwhelming view expressed to Barbados TODAY on the road was that Grand Kadooment 2026 delivered a safe, lively and memorable finale to this year’s Crop Over Festival.
