Bridgetown Market, Grand Kadooment among areas to be assessed for future improvements

A comprehensive review of Crop Over 2026 is to be undertaken in the coming weeks, the culture minister overseeing his first festival said on Tuesday, amid what has been hailed as one of the festival’s strongest editions in recent years. But he acknowledged there was still work to be done to increase participation and ensure the island’s premier cultural celebration continues to evolve.

As Grand Kadooment brought weeks of festivities to a climax on Monday, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Youth and Culture, Senator Shane Archer, said this year’s festival had much to celebrate, from the successful return of marquee competitions and sold-out events to standout music, strong attendance and a largely incident-free finale.

“As we reflect on this year’s Crop Over Festival, there’s absolutely every reason to be proud,” Archer said. “This year’s festival was particularly special as we celebrate Barbados’ 60th year of Independence and our fifth year as a Republic.”
