TRINIDAD and Tobago will bid a final farewell to its late beloved calypso icon Slinger Francisco (Mighty Sparrow) at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) on Friday.
Before the service a public viewing will take place on Tuesday at Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) and at NAPA on Wednesday.
“Birdie,” as he was affectionately known, died in New York at 91. He boasted a rich musical legacy including “Education,” “Phillip, My Dear,” and “Congo Man.” His body was repatriated from New York on October 6. His son fashion photographer Cyril Sancho Francisco accompanied by Benjamin and other ministry officials had received the body at Piarco International Airport.
