Forty-one peoĀple who were apĀpointĀed to serve as ReĀturnĀing OfĀfiĀcers for the April 28, 2025 GenĀerĀal ElecĀtion reĀceived the Writs of ElecĀtion isĀsued by PresĀiĀdent ChrisĀtine KanĀgaĀloo. This paves the way for the ReĀturnĀing OfĀfiĀcers to have the auĀthorĀiĀty to ācause a poll to be takĀen in their reĀspecĀtive elecĀtoral disĀtricts on beĀhalf of the ElecĀtions and BoundĀaries ComĀmisĀsion (EBC)ā.
The GenĀerĀal ElecĀtion is beĀing held on April 28.
AcĀcordĀing to a stateĀment from the EBC yesĀterĀday, Chief ElecĀtion OfĀfiĀcer, Fern NarĀcis-Scope comĀmendĀed the ReĀturnĀing OfĀfiĀcers and prospecĀtive ElecĀtion Clerks for their dedĀiĀcaĀtion to the elecĀtoral process. She highĀlightĀed the viĀtal role they play in upĀholdĀing deĀmoĀcĀraĀtĀic prinĀciĀples, stressĀing that fairĀness and acĀcountĀabilĀiĀty are esĀsenĀtial in strengthĀenĀing pubĀlic conĀfiĀdence and enĀsurĀing the credĀiĀbilĀiĀty of free and fair elecĀtions. AsĀsisĀtant Chief ElecĀtion OfĀfiĀcer Pamela Ogiste alĀso emĀphaĀsised the theme of BuildĀing Bridges and FosĀterĀing Trust in the ElecĀtoral Process. She said that elecĀtions are the founĀdaĀtion of democĀraĀcy and that pubĀlic conĀfiĀdence in the sysĀtem reĀlies not onĀly on the rules and regĀuĀlaĀtions upĀheld but alĀso on the inĀtegriĀty, proĀfesĀsionĀalĀism, and dedĀiĀcaĀtion of those who adĀminĀisĀter the process.
