Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday signed the condolence book in honour of the late iconic calypsonian The Mighty Sparrow (Slinger Francisco) at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain.
The book was set neatly on a coffee table against the backdrop of a smiling black and white photograph of the “man of the moment”. After signing the book, she greeted Sparrow’s daughter, Karen Francisco, and family friend, Christopher Trigg, and expressed her condolences.
Francisco thanked Persad-Bissessar for the gesture and said she (Persad-Bissessar) had always “shown love for Sparrow”. She also said she was buoyed by the outpouring of love and support for the family.
