A cutlass-wielding man who allegedly chopped a man outside a Hindu temple and allegedly charged at police officers with the weapon, was shot by the officers on Sunday.
The suspect, of Darsan Trace in Siparia, was hospitalised in a critical condition, while the victim and the police officers were treated and discharged.
The confrontation began around 12.35 p.m. when a 62-year-old devotee of the temple at Kay Trace Junction in Mendez Village, Siparia, was cleaning several murtis outside of the temple.
