The is­sue ex­plod­ed in­to pub­lic dis­course af­ter Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) chair­man Mar­vin Gon­za­les ig­nit­ed con­tro­ver­sy with re­marks ques­tion­ing the eth­nic bal­ance of re­cent board ap­point­ments, provoca­tive­ly ask­ing whether the coun­try had be­come “Bangladesh or Del­hi.”
