Leader of the Op­po­si­tion Pen­ne­lope Beck­les has called on cit­i­zens to work to­geth­er to build a na­tion ground­ed in fair­ness, jus­tice, and op­por­tu­ni­ty, em­pha­sis­ing that no home should be left in dark­ness this Di­vali or in the days ahead. She urged com­mu­ni­ties to strength­en bonds of uni­ty and to act as bea­cons of progress for fu­ture gen­er­a­tions.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, Beck­les ex­tend­ed warm greet­ings to the peo­ple of T&T on the oc­ca­sion of Di­vali 2025. She de­scribed the fes­ti­val, al­so known as Deep­avali, as a sa­cred time for re­flec­tion, fast­ing, and prepa­ra­tion to wel­come Moth­er Lak­sh­mi, the god­dess of wealth, pros­per­i­ty, and abun­dance.

Beck­les high­light­ed that Di­vali cel­e­bra­tions across the coun­try serve as a re­minder that light, truth, and hope can over­come dark­ness. She en­cour­aged cit­i­zens to em­brace the spir­i­tu­al mean­ing of the fes­ti­val, not­ing that the il­lu­mi­na­tion of deyas sym­bol­is­es com­pas­sion, ser­vice, and faith.
