Acting President Wade Mark has extended warm greetings to the Hindu community in T&T and around the world as they celebrate Divali 2025, emphasizing the festival’s enduring message of light, resilience, and unity.
In his message, Mark highlighted the story of Lord Rama and Mother Sita, whose return to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile symbolizes triumph, duty, and the enduring bonds that unite families and communities. He noted that the lighting of deyas is more than a beautiful tradition, serving as a reminder that “even a single light can dispel darkness.”
Mark said Divali is also a time for reflection on personal and national transformation. Its values of freedom, integrity, truth, and justice, he added, can guide citizens toward enlightenment. He urged all Trinidadians to be “bearers of light in the lives of those around us—showing love and compassion where there is anger, sowing understanding where there is confusion, and bringing peace where there is enmity.”
