KINGSTON, Jamaica— A sharp salute, though symbolic in nature, captured a moment of pride, unfiltered gratitude, genuine sincerity, and profound respect for the fathers, uncles, mentors, and male figures who showed up for the young JCF Cadets at their pre-Father’s Day celebration, recently held at the academy.
To honour, appreciate, and celebrate was the mandate of the young men at the academy as they stood before the men who represented the kind of individuals they hoped to become. Heartfelt expressions and moments of complete vulnerability defined the occasion as the fathers and father figures witnessed their sons openly express, firsthand, the meaningful impact they have had on their lives.
More than 70 men turned out to stand in support of their young male charges, who are enrolled at the JCF Cadet Academy. Every single cadet was represented. Those who did not have a biological father present were accompanied by an uncle, brother, cousin, teacher, or another positive male figure. Every cadet was accounted for. The men surrounded the young cadets with their presence, offering reassurance and demonstrating that they are supported by men they can rely on to help guide them into responsible adulthood. The picture-perfect moment spoke volumes.
