Testosterone warning!

GOVERNMENT Senator and urologist Dr Elon Thompson is warning young Jamaican men who use testosterone supplements to ‘bulk up’ to monitor their hormone levels, saying excessively high testosterone levels may increase their risk of prostate cancer later on.

But Thompson said he was not aware of data showing that supplements themselves directly cause prostate cancer, noting that such a link would require studies correlating testosterone levels with prostate cancer rates.

Thompson issued the warning during a post-Cabinet media briefing on Wednesday while responding to a question about younger men using testosterone and other supplements to build muscle.
