A lyrical showdown between cousins for the 2026 National Extempo Monarch title ended with Brian London victorious on Tuesday night, while extempo veteran Winston “Gypsy” Peters had to settle for second place.
The competition, staged by the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO), formed part of the National Extempo and Freestyle Monarch competition (Kaisorama) and was held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Port of Spain—with eight participants in the Extempo category and eight in the Freestyle category.
Preedy (Akeem Chance) successfully defended his crown, claiming the National Freestyle Monarch title for a second consecutive year.
