President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Wednesday reiterated the proposal for the phased relocation of families living along the riverbank at Riverview, as the government seeks to create safer living conditions while ensuring residents can maintain their livelihoods.
The head of state made the pitch during a community outreach drive under the Community Ride Initiative, which saw him cycling through Alexander Village, Riverview and Yarrow Dam and engaging residents on their concerns and development priorities.
During his interaction with families at Riverview, President Ali said the location of the homes along the riverbank presents challenges to further development.
