A teacher attached to Charity Secondary School lost his life after he lost control of the car he was driving and ended up in a trench along the Lima Back Road, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). Dead is Davanand Singh from Danielstown, Essequibo Coast, and former Head of Department (HOD) for Home Economics at Charity Secondary School. At the time of the accident, a 34-year-old self-employed man from Lima Sands, Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, was in the vehicle. Based on reports received, Singh, who was driving motorcar PAH 3199, was proceeding along the roadway at a fast rate of speed when the car began swaying from left to right due to the crush and run surface. As a result of the stones and speeding as main factor, Singh reportedly lost control of the motorcar and ended up in a nearby trench where it turned turtle.
Singh was reportedly pinned in the car while the occupant managed to escape through a window unharmed. However, Singh was pulled from the car in a motionless state and was taken to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 34-year-old occupant was taken into custody as investigations continue.
