Govt expands public services with new Bartica facility

In an effort to transform citizens’ access to public services, the Government of Guyana on Friday commissioned yet another Guyana Service Centre, this time at 2nd Avenue, Zenz Plaza, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). Speaking at the opening, Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Minister, Zulfikar Ally emphasised that service delivery must be built around respect, dignity, patience and compassion, while ensuring that citizens can access services closer to home without the need to travel to Georgetown. He also highlighted the wider transformation taking place across Guyana, including the rollout of the Digital E-ID, the digitisation of services, customer service training for public servants, and QR-code feedback systems that will allow citizens to share their experiences and strengthen accountability.

Further, he outlined plans for one Government app that will bring the various Government apps together in one place, allowing citizens to access and request Government services conveniently from their phones. The Service Centre represents more than a new location for Government services but rather it forms part of a broader commitment to modernise Government, improve efficiency and transparency and put citizens at the forefront of public service delivery. This new centre is now the fifth to be opened across the country. The first was opened at the West Central Mall in Leonora, Region Three (Essequibo Islands–West Demerara) back in December 2025. This was followed by one at Cotton Field Call Centre Building on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) in April this year. In June 2026, the centre was commissioned at Port Mourant in Region Six (East Berbice–Corentyne) at Port Mourant. The last one was commissioned at Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) back in August. Meanwhile, in Bartica, Minister Ally was joined by Natural Resources Minister, Vickram Bharrat along with Regional Executive Officer (REO) Dr Josh Kanhai and others.
