Debbie-Ann Ottley has made history as the first woman to be elected president of the Banking, Insurance and General Workers Union (BIGWU).
Ottley was elected following the victory of Team Momentum in the union’s elections for the 2026 to 2030 term.
Her election marks a new chapter for BIGWU, with Ottley pledging to focus on stronger representation, improved communication with members and branches, effective collective bargaining and the timely handling of grievances and trade disputes.
