ForĀmer House SpeakĀer Bridgid AnĀnisette-George has reĀjectĀed atĀtempts to use her castĀing votes in ParĀliaĀment in 2017 as preceĀdent for SenĀate PresĀiĀdent Wade Markās deĀcidĀing vote on the SpeĀcial OpĀerĀaĀtions Bill, arĀguĀing that none of her votes deĀterĀmined the fate of subĀstanĀtive legĀisĀlaĀtion.
In a deĀtailed reĀsponse to the conĀtroĀverĀsy, AnĀnisette-George said there was a ācritĀiĀcal disĀtincĀtionā beĀtween the cirĀcumĀstances in which she exĀerĀcised castĀing votes as SpeakĀer and Markās deĀciĀsion last ThursĀday to break a 15-15 SenĀate tie and seĀcure pasĀsage of the conĀtentious Bill.
āWhat a STRETCH to state that the preceĀdent for the breach of the DeniĀson PrinĀciĀple by the SenĀate PresĀiĀdent on the SpeĀcial OpĀerĀaĀtions Bill was set in 2017 by the then SpeakĀer of the House!!!!ā AnĀnisette-George wrote in her reĀsponse datĀed SepĀtemĀber 28.
