A Tobago man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with eight counts of Demanding Money with Menaces and Robbery.
According to a police media release Wednesday, Gregory Stephens, 52, of Hall Trace, was charged with the offences when he appeared before Master Indira Chinebas, on Monday. He was granted bail with surety in the sum of $70,000.
A man reported to police that during the period July 1, 2024, to November 2024, he was doing construction work at his Scarborough property, when he was approached by a man who allegedly threatened and demanded money from him on several occasions. The victim who became fearful, paid the man varying amounts of cash on numerous occasions, before making a report of the matter to the Anti-Extortion Unit.
