Nutrien to shut Pt Lisas operations

Nutrien Ltd has announced that it will indefinitely shut down its Trinidad nitrogen operations at Point Lisas, citing ongoing natural gas constraints and uncertainty over supply.

The decision comes less than two weeks after Proman Trinidad, the largest tenant at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, announced that it was restructuring its operations and reducing its workforce in response to continued constraints on natural gas supply.

In July, Methanex Corporation announced that it had indefinitely idled its Titan methanol plant at Point Lisas after failing to reach a new natural gas supply agreement.
