A retired resident of Diego Martin foiled a burglary at his home on Tuesday morning after confronting an intruder armed with a hammer.
Police reports state that a 70-year-old of Gokool Street, left his two-storey concrete home around 6a.m., securing all doors and windows. Upon returning around 9a.m., he noticed two broken glass louvres on the northern side of the house and heard noises from the kitchen area.
He called out for anyone inside to exit and observed a man leaving the kitchen through a wooden door, holding a metal hammer and reportedly pleading, “Doh kill meh, doh kill meh.” The homeowner armed himself with a metal pitchfork and ordered the suspect to drop the hammer. The man complied and fled the scene, running west toward Cemetery Street.
