Newly crowned Miss Grand Jamaica 2026 Attorney-at-law Simone Gardner is embarking on a new chapter that will see her represent Jamaica on the international stage in India this October. The Miss Grand International 2026 competition will be hosted for the first time across the historic cities of Agra, New Delhi and Jaipur, and Gardner, who was crowned on June 28 at the YMCA Auditorium, is ready for the challenge. For Gardner, the crown isnât just about pageantry; it represents far more than that. âBeing crowned Miss Grand Jamaica 2026 felt like a full-circle moment,â she shared. âIt was one of those experiences where I had to pause and say, âWow, this is really happeningâ. It felt like destiny and a well-timed reminder that the dreams you have today can become the reality you live tomorrow.â She describes the victory as the beginning of a greater purpose â one that allows her to encourage others, particularly young people, to believe in possibilities beyond their current circumstances. âFor me, this crown is not just about a title; it represents a new chapter of purpose, growth and connection. It gives me the opportunity to encourage young people to look beyond their current circumstances and believe they are capable of achieving things they may not even imagine for themselves yet.â Gardnerâs journey to the crown is rooted in an impressive blend of professional achievement, creativity and public service. She is the managing director of S.A. Gardner Law, a vocalist, educator, host and former chairperson of the Legal Advisory Committee of the Jamaica Hockey Federation. Yet, despite her many accomplishments, she says it is her humanity that defines her most. âBeyond the crown, I am a woman who believes that our greatest purpose is to help others discover their own voice,â she said. âI strive to lead with compassion, kindness, curiosity and courage, knowing that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the lives we uplift.â That philosophy has shaped her approach to both her legal career and pageantry. Gardner believes todayâs pageant queen is no longer defined solely by beauty, but by the impact she creates. âBecoming Miss Grand Jamaica means so much more than a title or a crown to me. It is a symbol of hope. It represents the beautiful evolution of pageantry, and a reminder that the woman being celebrated today is not defined by her appearance alone, but by the strength of her character, the depth of her purpose and the impact she chooses to create.â She added that the modern woman embodies many dimensions. âShe can be beautiful and intelligent, compassionate and courageous, talented and grounded. She can use her voice, her experiences and her platform to inspire change and uplift others.â As she prepares for the international competition, Gardnerâs focus extends beyond rehearsals, runway training, and competition preparation. She is determined to use her platform to make a meaningful difference at home. In August, she will launch a back-to-school initiative aimed at supporting students as they prepare for the new academic year, a project she says reflects her commitment to service. âMy heart remains deeply connected to service,â Gardner explained. âThis journey is about more than preparing for a crown; it is about preparing for a responsibility. It is about showing up as a woman of purpose, representing Jamaica with pride and using every opportunity I have to inspire and uplift others.â While India awaits later this year, Gardner is already focused on carrying Jamaicaâs story to the world, not only through her presence on the international stage, but through the values she hopes to embody. âIf there is one thing I hope people remember about Simone Gardner,â she reflected, âit is not the crown or the accomplishments, but the way I made people feel: encouraged to dream bigger, empowered to stand taller, and reminded that their voice has the power to change not only their own lives, but the world around them.âoâbrian.wynter@gleanerjm.com
