IN a historic departure from decades of foreign policy, Trinidad and Tobago abstained on Monday during a United Nations General Assembly vote on the annual International Criminal Court (ICC) report.
It is a resolution the country has historically co-sponsored and supported since the court’s inception.
The decision comes just days after Trinidad and Tobago broke with more than three decades of diplomatic tradition by voting alongside the United States against a United Nations resolution calling for an end to Washington’s economic embargo on Cuba.
