On Wednesday morning, the mother of murdered 12-year-old Mercedez Layne returned to the Erin RC School, where this week, her daughter would have completed her final term of Standard Four.
The school had organised a counselling session to help its students and their parents cope with the gruesome killing that rocked the quiet community a month ago.
“Only today, I went in school. They had a counselling session and thing for all the parents, but nobody didn’t have anything much to say concerning that (Mercedez’s killing). They didn’t want to go into that topic then,” Annarese Layne told the Express in a telephone interview yesterday.
