President Dr Irfaan Ali on Monday attended the launch of the King Charles III led environmental conservation effort – the Commonwealth Nature Initiative (CNI) – held on the margins of the current Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), in Antigua and Barbuda and charged member states to transfer verbal commitments into tangible ones.
“The Commonwealth has an important role to play,” he said, while outlining a vision for greater collaboration among Commonwealth member states on biodiversity science, financing and knowledge sharing.

Ali explained that Commonwealth countries can take Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) and Global Biodiversity Alliance (GBA) agenda as examples on how environmental financing and conservation efforts can be mutually reinforcing rather than competing objectives.
