BUSINESSWOMAN Fareeda Balgobin was yesterday placed on $650,000 bail on charges stemming from the alleged abuse of a 42-yearold domestic worker while her son Joshua Benny was granted $400,000 bail.
The two along with Rohit Sitahal appeared virtually before Master Kateisha Ambrose-Persadsingh. Sitihal was previously placed on $400,000 bail while prosecutor Sgt Salazar had applied for writs of habeas corpus for Balgobin and Benny to face the court. They have been detained at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre after preventive detention orders were issued for them in April. Balgobin's order alleged involvement in an Informed Crime Group (ICG) in Penal.
Balgobin and Benny were placed on bail with the conditions that they have no communication either directly or indirectly with the alleged victim, 42-yearold domestic worker Sabita Basdeo from Barrackpore, keep away from her, report to the police station twice a week, and reside at the address given. Sitahal faces the same conditions.
