The fanfare accompanying the arrival of the PNM candidate for Aranguez/St Joseph, Terrence Deyalsingh, on April 4 was roundly condemned by the other two candidates for the area, Gary Griffith (NTA) and Devesh Maharaj (UNC), as there were several schools in the area.
Students were seen hanging out of the window and some were eventually let out of their classrooms to view the parade of supporters who arrived with two music trucks, a tassa section, two moko jumbies and over 100 people waving flags, blowing vuvuzuelas and singing.
In contrast, Maharaj arrived with approximately twenty supporters quietly waving flags and carrying a banner, while Griffith was accompanied by two people.
