Man held for ganja in ziplock bag

(Kaieteur News) – Police in Region One are investigating the discovery of 10.8 grams of suspected cannabis which was found on Wednesday afternoon during a mobile patrol at Six Miles, Matthews Ridge, North West District.

During the patrol, ranks intercepted a motor vehicle along the Six Miles Main Road with a 44-year-old taxi driver and a 33-year-old pork-knocker of New Amsterdam, Berbice and Oronoque, Port Kaituma. A search was conducted, during which ranks found a transparent ziplock bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis in a haversack that was in the possession of the 33-year-old man.

The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Matthews Ridge Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 10.8 grams before being lodged. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
