Police in Regional Division three have arrested a 20-year-old construction worker after 101.9 grams of cannabis were found during an operation at Pouderoyen Tarmac, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Saturday. According to police, ranks conducting the operation contacted the 20-year-old, of Phoenix Park, WBD, at a stall on the tarmac. A search was conducted in his presence, during which ranks allegedly found a black plastic bag containing 59 small transparent zip-lock bags. Each bag reportedly contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station along with the cannabis. Police said the substance was weighed in the presence of the suspect and amounted to 101.9 grams.
The 20-year-old remains in custody.
