To­ba­go in­ves­ti­ga­tors are await­ing a foren­sic pathol­o­gist from Trinidad to con­firm the of­fi­cial cause of death of 74-year-old Frank Alan Sandy, who was shot in Mt St George last week.

Po­lice re­ports said the pen­sion­er was shot around 5 am last Fri­day when he tried to en­ter the home of an off-du­ty po­lice of­fi­cer. The of­fi­cer al­leged­ly be­came fear­ful and fired three times. Sandy’s rel­a­tives said he had mem­o­ry is­sues and may have got­ten lost af­ter leav­ing home for a walk that morn­ing. They crit­i­cised the of­fi­cer’s use of force.

Po­lice have con­firmed that the of­fi­cer in­volved re­mains on du­ty.
