THE legal options for convicted King’s Counsel Vincent Nelson have shifted toward the United Kingdom after the Court of Appeal in Port of Spain blocked his attempt to secure permission to challenge his conviction at the Privy Council.
In a ruling delivered on Friday, a three-judge panel comprising Justices of Appeal Nolan Bereaux, James Aboud, and Ricky Rahim dismissed Nelson’s application for conditional leave.
The court sided with the State’s position that the matter was largely procedural and did not present the type of significant legal questions that would require the intervention of the country’s highest appellate court.
